LOSS Team (Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors)
The LOSS Team (Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors) is an international program developed at BRCIC by Dr. Frank Campbell, former Executive Director. Its mission is to provide hope and support to family members who have recently lost a loved one to suicide. Many LOSS Team members are themselves suicide loss survivors. When the Coroner’s office identifies a potential suicide, they notify the LOSS Team. Two team members reach out to the bereaved and offer a meeting. During this meeting, the team listens to the family’s story, helps them recognize and process the emotions following a suicide, and shares information about resources available through BRCIC and other organizations in the Greater Baton Rouge area.
